June 19, 2012 - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today condemned the attacks that resulted in the death of eight Turkish soldiers and the wounding of many more.
“The people of Turkey have been the target of a series of attacks over the last few months that reflect only the brutality and inhumanity of those who use terrorism as a means of political blackmail. Whatever their motivation, those perpetrating these crimes simply undermine the credibility of the cause they espouse.
“Canada is committed to working with the Turkish government in combatting terrorism in all its forms.
“Canada stands with the people and Government of Turkey in the face of such terrorist acts. We extend our sincere condolences to those who have lost loved ones.”
