“As Mexico assumes the role of G-20 chair in 2012, it is important for Canada to work closely with Mexico on common priorities and goals for the global economy,” said Minister Flaherty. “We discussed the ongoing situation in Europe and the role that international coordination can play to deal with instability and avert another global crisis.”
“We are fortunate in Canada to have a very sound financial system, as well as a credible plan to create jobs and growth and return to balanced budgets over the medium term through the Next Phase of Canada’s Economic Action Plan,” added Minister Flaherty. “However, Canada is not immune to outside pressures, which is why we continue to be prudent and to work closely with our G-20 partners.”

“These priorities are also important to Canada, and we look forward to continuing to implement concrete actions to advance them so that we can create jobs and foster sustainable growth,” said Minister Flaherty.
