(No. 193 - July 7, 2011 - 6:45 p.m. ET) The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Labour, today announced that, on behalf of the Government of Canada, she will attend the 2011 Croatia Summit, which is scheduled to take place in Dubrovnik, Croatia, on July 8 and 9, 2011.
“Canada views the Croatia Summit as an opportunity to discuss issues of bilateral interest with senior officials from Croatia and other countries of the western Balkans,” said Minister Raitt.
The Croatia Summit takes place every July and was first held in 2006. It gathers leaders from the Central and South Eastern European regions, as well as from other parts of the world, to discuss current issues.
During the Summit, Minister Raitt will interact with key political leaders from South Eastern Europe and from European institutions. She will also provide an overview of how Canada has mitigated the effects of the global financial crisis.
