Minister Raitt applauds Spectra Energy Corp for workplace equity

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, July 12, 2010 - Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister
of Labour, met with representatives of Spectra Energy Corp and commended them
for their ongoing efforts in promoting diversity, and for their commitment to
employment equity and a racism-free workplace.
"The Government of Canada is paving the way toward economic recovery following
a global economic recession," said Minister Raitt. "I commend Spectra
Energy Corp for its contributions to our country's prosperity by promoting a
diverse, talented and competitive Canadian workforce."
Minister Raitt presented Mr. Bohdan Bodnar, Vice President of Human Resources
at Spectra Energy, with a certificate highlighting the organization's efforts
in creating an inclusive workplace committed to enabling employment equity,
and in building a workforce that is representative of Canada's diverse population.
The Labour Program develops, administers and enforces workplace legislation
and regulations, such as the Canada Labour Code, which covers industrial relations,
health and safety and employment standards, and the Employment Equity Act. These
laws cover federally regulated workers and employers.
