Good morning ladies and gentlemen, friends and guests.

Thank you, Minister Goodyear for the warm introduction.

I'd also like to thank Dave and Ed for welcoming us today.

As a Member of Parliament, one of the best parts of my job is supporting the people and the businesses in the communities I represent.

I'm pleased to see that your company is growing and I hear that you are expanding into new space in this building very soon.

Helping companies grow and create jobs are key priorities for our Government, as Minister Goodyear outlined.

And growth is what we are seeing here in Burlington, as with Memex Automation.

Burlington has a diverse economic base and is close to excellent transportation infrastructure and large industries in southern Ontario, such as automotive and manufacturing.

And I'm especially proud that Burlington is known for its high quality of life, being named one of the top places to live in Canada.

Employment has remained strong in this area, even in recent years.

I'd like to thank Minister Goodyear for the great work his Agency, FedDev Ontario, is doing for our region.

FedDev Ontario, has invested more than $24 million in more than 50 projects in the Halton region.

In the face of global competition, our manufacturers must make goods better, faster and more cost-effectively.

The MERLIN product your company offers helps businesses do just that.

I understand that MERLIN helps connect machines on the shop floor with each other and with information management systems.

This allows for real-time reporting and assessment of what can be done better. Automatic and accurate tracking reduces manual data collection. All of this amounts to cost-savings for manufacturers.

To this end, I'm proud to announce that FedDev Ontario is providing up to $800,000 to help Memex Automation commercialize the latest version of MERLIN.

I know this funding will also help you test your product, add features and bring your product to new consumers.

This contribution is through FedDev Ontario's Investing in Business Innovation initiative, which is aimed at getting made-in-Ontario innovations into the marketplace.

And I'm sure you will all be pleased to learn that this project is expected to create up to 16 new jobs and maintain 22.

The project is also leveraging up to $1.6 million from a team of investors who are members of the Niagara Angel Network.

Contributions like these show our Government, under the leadership of this Prime Minister, is committed to helping this region prosper.

Congratulations and I wish all of those involved the best of luck and success.

Thank you.
