January 27, 2014 - Following his participation at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird visited Liechtenstein, where he met with Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein, Prime Minister Adrian Hasler and Foreign Minister Aurelia Frick.

“Liechtenstein has been a reliable partner for Canada in promoting human rights and the rule of law,” said Baird.

Ministers Baird and Frick committed to continuing this strong partnership and especially to defending the rights of women and children through such means as the Canadian-led efforts to end child, early and forced marriage.

Minister Baird’s visit marked the entry into force of the Canada-Liechtenstein Tax Information Exchange Agreement. This important step in the fight against international tax evasion enhances the positive economic relationship between the two countries.

The two ministers discussed building on this economic relationship through increased trade and investment.
