Consultation on IT transformation plan wraps up
November 15, 2016 Ottawa, ON Shared Services Canada
Today, the Honourable Judy M. Foote, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, announced that Shared Services Canada (SSC) has concluded its public consultation on its IT Transformation Plan.
Over the past two months, SSC sought feedback from Canadians, federal public servants, client departments and industry on its roadmap to modernize the Government of Canada’s IT infrastructure and the way it delivers services, including for email, data centres, networks and workplace technology devices. Strong, secure and modern information technology infrastructure is the backbone of better services for Canadians. That’s why the Government of Canada is committed to updating and modernizing the digital services it provides to Canadians.
SSC launched a website where Canadians could provide feedback. The department also held four webinars with federal public servants and a consultation via Twitter to hear from youth working in the federal government. In addition, Leona Alleslev, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Services and Procurement, led a series of roundtable discussions with representatives of the information and communications technology industry sector in Ottawa, Montréal and Toronto.
A summary of the feedback received will be released in the coming months.
“The feedback received will help the Government of Canada deliver the important services we provide to Canadians. From federal government response in the wake of emergencies like the Fort McMurray wildfires; to applying for Employment Insurance; to supporting weather prediction services—Shared Services Canada is there, working to deliver modern, secure and reliable federal services to Canadians from coast to coast to coast.”
