Canada condemns attack in Lahore, Pakistan
March 28, 2016 - Ottawa, Ontario - Global Affairs Canada
The Honourable Stéphane Dion, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today issued the following statement:
“Canada condemns in the strongest terms yesterday’s terrorist attack in Lahore, Pakistan, which occurred near the children’s play area of a public park, claiming the lives of many innocent people and injuring hundreds of others.
“It is especially tragic that this attack took place during the Easter weekend, a sacred time for many families.
“On behalf of all Canadians, I offer my heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims, Christian and Muslim alike, and wish a speedy recovery to those injured in this attack.
“Canada stands with the victims of terrorism and is committed to the global fight against terrorism. We believe that building a peaceful and tolerant society depends on continued and determined action against extremism.”
