Calgary officer recognized by the Governor General of Canada

On March 4, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, recognized Scott Jenkinson for 20 years of frontline service as a peace officer in Canada. Jenkinson, Senior Officer Trade Compliance for the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), received a Peace Officer Exemplary Service Medal at a presentation of Canadian honours in Vancouver.

Jenkinson began his career as a peace officer in 1987 when he served in the military as an artillery officer stationed at CFB Gagetown in New Brunswick. He began his career with the CBSA as a border services officer (BSO) in Saskatoon in 1996. Scott transferred to Calgary in 1998 to continue his career as a BSO at the Calgary International Airport. From 2010 to present, he has served as a Senior Officer Trade Compliance in Calgary.

The Trade Operations Division is responsible for promoting compliance and verification services on behalf of the CBSA to the importing, exporting and brokerage communities. Compliance Verification provides the checks and balances that facilitate the free flow of goods into Canada. These verifications confirm the correct tariff classification, valuation, origin and tariff treatment are applied to commercial goods entering Canada and all duties and taxes owed are collected.
