Canada's Brigadier-General David Anderson to lead Coalition's Ministerial Liaison Team
March 15, 2016 – Ottawa – National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces
General Jonathan Vance, Chief of the Defence Staff, announced today that Brigadier-General David Anderson will lead the Global Coalition’s Ministerial Liaison Team which will provide strategic military support to the Government of Iraq.
The team of strategic military personnel will liaise with Iraq’s Ministries of Defence and Interior to further synchronize Coalition efforts to clear the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) from Iraq.
Through this support, Canada is playing a significant role alongside its partners in setting the conditions for the Government of Iraq to achieve long-term success through self-sustainable security.
"The selection of Brigadier-General Anderson to lead the Ministerial Liaison Team is a reflection of his operational expertise and leadership, as well as an example of Canada’s ongoing commitment to the Coalition. Under his guidance, I am confident that the multinational team of military personnel will serve the Coalition and the Government of Iraq well in the fight against ISIL."
