Death of an inmate at Pacific Institution
March 12, 2016 – Abbotsford, British Columbia – Correctional Service Canada
On March 10, 2016, Robert James Watson, an inmate at Pacific Institution died at a local hospital in Abbotsford.
At the time of his death, Mr. Watson, 71 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence for Sexual Assault, Forcible Confinement, Kidnapping, and other offences since August 1, 1969.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
