Minister of National Defence travels to Ukraine, Poland, and Germany

March 12, 2016 – Ottawa – National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces

Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan will visit Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) personnel deployed on Operations UNIFIER and REASSURANCE during a trip to Ukraine, Poland, and Germany from March 14 to 17.

While overseas, Minister Sajjan, accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary, the Honourable John McKay, will also meet with defence counterparts in those countries.

Canada remains committed to supporting Ukraine in its efforts to maintain sovereignty, security, and stability through Operation UNIFIER, the CAF’s contribution to support Ukrainian forces through capacity building.

Canada also remains committed to working with its NATO Allies in central and eastern Europe through Operation REASSURANCE, Canada’s contribution to NATO assurance measures, to respond to the changing security environment in and around Europe.
