Return of HMCS Winnipeg to CFB Esquimalt

Esquimalt, British Columbia - Media are invited to the return of Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Winnipeg to Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Esquimalt following its eight-and-a-half month deployment which included participation in Operations REASSURANCE and CARIBBE.

When: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2016.

Where: Her Majesty’s Canadian Dockyard, Esquimalt (main entrance at the end of Esquimalt Road).

Rear-Admiral Gilles Couturier, Commander of Maritime Forces Pacific and Joint Task Force (Pacific), and Commander Jeff Hutchinson, Commanding Officer HMCS Winnipeg, will be available for interviews.

Operation REASSURANCE is Canada’s contribution to NATO assurance measures in Central and Eastern Europe.

Operation CARIBBE is Canada’s participation in the multinational campaign against illicit trafficking in the Caribbean Sea and the eastern Pacific Ocean.
