Government of Canada Supports Business Development and Investment Attraction in the Temiskaming Region
February 2, 2016 – Armstrong – Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario – FedNor
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced an investment of $33,750 in support of small business development and growth in the Temiskaming region.
The FedNor investment will enable the Township of Armstrong to develop a business and operational plan to identify economic and partnership opportunities for the Earlton Timiskaming Regional Airport. The plan will serve as a roadmap to guide economic development efforts with a view to landing new business and commercial opportunities.
- The funding announced today is provided through FedNor's Northern Ontario Development Program, which supports projects that promote sustainable community economic development, enhance business development and growth, and facilitate innovation.
- Owned and operated by the Corporation of the Township of Armstrong, the Earlton Timiskaming Regional Airport is situated in central Temiskaming and is an important transportation link for the region's more than 35,000 residents.
