Canada's response to the Syrian crisis

Canadians are helping to respond to the Syrian crisis both at home and in the region. Canada has committed to resettling 25,000 Syrian refugees in Canada between November 4, 2015, and February 29, 2016. Canada is on track to meet this commitment. Communities across Canada are helping Syrian families begin the next chapter of their lives.

Canada has provided technical and advisory support to the Syrian opposition’s negotiating delegation in advance of the UN-led peace talks. Since 2011, Canada has committed almost $969 million in response to the Syrian crisis, including $653.5 million in humanitarian assistance, $233 million in development assistance and $82 million in security and stabilization assistance to the region.
