Saguenay Gets Ready to Celebrate Winter

Government of Canada supports the Saguenay en Neige festival

January 26, 2016 – Saguenay, Quebec – Department of Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, today announced $17,550 in funding for the 32nd annual Saguenay en Neige festival. The event will take place in the city of Saguenay’s Jonquière district from February 4 to 14, 2016.

This funding, provided by the Government of Canada under the Local Festivals component of the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program, will help improve the range of family activities and live music shows featuring artists from Saguenay and the region.

  • Over 11 days, Saguenay en Neige will offer visitors a free, diverse outdoor lineup that includes impressive snow sculptures, live music and entertainment for children.
  • Each year the festival attracts more than 1,000 artists and sculptors, both professionals and amateurs, who transform Parc de la Rivière-aux-Sables into a veritable outdoor museum.
  • Around 150,000 visitors will come to admire the ephemeral works and enjoy the festival’s wide range of family activities.
