Canadian Armed Forces to Host Panel Discussion on Mental Health

CFB PETAWAWA — Media are invited to attend a Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) panel discussion on mental health as part of its participation in Bell Let’s Talk Day.
The sixth annual Bell Let’s Talk Day is on Wednesday, January 27, 2016. The CAF is a longstanding partner with Bell in this initiative to continue the conversation around mental health and stigma.
Bell Let’s Talk Ambassador and Great Big Sea founding member Séan McCann, local mental health professionals and CAF members from Garrison Petawawa will be on the panel.
The event will be moderated by CTV News Anchor Kevin Newman and Canadian Armed Forces member Captain Alex Munoz.
When: 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27.
Where: Y-101 Drill Hall, Garrison Petawawa.
What: Panel discussion on the importance of opening the dialogue on mental illness and how we can reduce stigma in ourselves and our communities.

The focus of the panel will be to provide the opportunity for members and civilian employees to ask questions of the panel members and openly discuss how mental health affects them and its impact on the military community. Media are asked to reserve any questions until after the panel has concluded as interviews may be coordinated following the event. Live coverage will not be possible.
