Sussex area residents and snow enthusiasts took part in a celebration and official ribbon-cutting today to mark the official re-opening of the Poley Mountain Ski Lodge.
During the celebration the Government of Canada, through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, announced an investment of $500,000 to help with the 29,000 sq. ft. lodge’s reconstruction.
On hand for the celebration were Alaina Lockhart, Member of Parliament for Fundy Royal, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Singh Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA); and Bill Anderson, General Manager of Poley Mountain Resorts Ltd.

- Poley Mountain Resorts Ltd. is a winter recreational facility located in Waterford, N.B., 12 kilometres from Sussex, N.B.
- The resort offers 32 trails; beginner skiing, intermediate bump skiing, glade skiing and snowboarding.
- The resort has been in operation since the early 1960’s.
“Through ACOA, the Government will make strategic investments that build on competitive regional advantages and support diversification of our communities. We will help Canadian businesses grow, innovate and export so that they can create good quality jobs and generate wealth for Canadians.”
- The Honourable Navdeep Singh Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)
“Recreational infrastructure such as this beautiful resort brings families and residents together to promote physical as well as social activity, while creating much needed economic activity. In addition to supporting the region’s winter tourism market, the larger lodge facility will provide the opportunity to increase revenues by having sufficient space to attract events during the off season.”
- Alaina Lockhart, Member of Parliament for Fundy Royal
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the countless individuals involved with this project. We relish the opportunity to expand upon being Atlantic Canada’s premier winter destination, all the while as we explore opportunities to become a premier 4-season destination.”
