OTTAWA, July 19, 2015 – The Honourable Steven Blaney, Canada's Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness and the Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of National Defence made the following statements today regarding the conclusion of the assistance of Canadian Armed Forces members in fighting Saskatchewan's wildfires. The decision to redeploy troops was made following consultation between the Province of Saskatchewan, Public Safety Canada and the Canadian Armed Forces.

“I would like to thank the Canadian Armed Forces for quickly responding to the urgent need for support in fighting Saskatchewan's wildfires. I would also like to recognize the dedication and the resilience of the brave firefighters, volunteer organizations and other emergency responders who have been working tirelessly since the beginning of the fires. I know that they will continue to protect Saskatchewan communities and support affected individuals until the situation is fully resolved.”
