An exciting lineup of free and affordable activities for all

June 30, 2014 – Québec – The National Battlefields Commission

The National Battlefields Commission is offering free activities in honour of Canada Day, as well as a host of unique affordable experiences all summer long, including the Martello 1 Tower iPad exhibition, the Odyssey multimedia exhibition, and the not-to-be-missed guided tour aboard Abraham’s Bus. Make the most of the summer with your family on the Plains!

Highlights

  • Martello 1 Tower iPad exhibition. The past meets the present as you explore this defensive tower, iPad in hand, and step back in time get to know the military engineering, architecture, and history of Québec’s Martello towers and the way of life of the soldiers who lived in them. A one-of-a-kind virtual experience with period animation superimposed on the inside of the tower.

Daily, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Free admission on July 1.

  • Odyssey multimedia exhibition. Witness firsthand the pivotal role of the Plains of Abraham in Canada’s 400 year history, from the birth of the colony to the creation of the country. Watch remarkably vivid multimedia shows featuring key figures from our past, and admire the unique collection of battle uniforms.

  • Traces – Listening to remnants (new exhibition). Study over 100 artifacts from National Battlefields Park’s archaeological collection. See what life was like for our predecessors living at a 17th century civilian site (Des Braves Park) and 19th century military site (blockhouse).
