Racquetball Canada receives funding from the Government of Canada to support hosting World Championship

June 13, 2014 – Burlington, Ontario – Department of Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), announced that the Government of Canada has provided $50,000 to Racquetball Canada through Sport Canada’s Hosting Program to support the hosting of the International Racquetball Federation (IRF) XVII World Racquetball Championship. The event will take place in Burlington from June 14 to 21, 2014.

  • Racquetball Canada is the national governing body for the sport of racquetball in Canada.
  • The Government of Canada contributed $419,000 to Racquetball Canada during the 2013–2014 fiscal year through Sport Canada’s Sport Support Program.
  • In 2013–2014, $76,764 was provided through the Athlete Assistance Program to support five carded racquetball athletes with living, training, tuition, and special needs expenses.
